Flinders Rural and Remote Health NTAt Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory.
We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.
Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes.
We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce.
All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.
Level B Position About the role This Teaching Specialist (Academic) position focuses on delivering high-quality, student-centred education aligned with the University's strategic plan, Making a Difference: The 2025 Agenda.
Based at the Darwin office of Flinders Northern Territory, the Lecturer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health will lead the development and delivery of Indigenous health curriculum, with a focus on cultural safety, primary health care, and population health.
You will bring a strong understanding of Indigenous health and a proven ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Your teaching will reflect innovation and a commitment to supporting student success through inclusive, culturally safe learning experiences.
About You To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Completion of a Ph D or equivalent qualification Identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and recognition by an appropriate community body.
Evidence of independent innovation in teaching delivery or design, including the effective use of e-learning technologies.
Experience engaging with relevant external professional or community groups at a local, national, or international level (e.g.
committees, professional associations, workshops, or conferences).
Qualifications or experience in Indigenous health, health professions, or curriculum design and teaching.
Level C Position About the Role This Teaching Specialist (Clinical/Practitioner) role focuses on excellence in teaching and learning within Rural and Remote Health at the College of Medicine and Public Health.
Aligned with the University's 2025 Agenda, the Senior Lecturer will lead innovative teaching practices-particularly in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, cultural safety, primary health care, and population health-across Flinders Northern Territory.
Drawing on senior clinical experience, the role will also foster industry partnerships, deliver innovative placement models, and provide high-quality clinical education.
A strong record of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and deep knowledge of Indigenous health are essential.
About You To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: An understanding of pedagogical theory and current education practices relevant to Medicine.
Sustained excellence in tertiary teaching, including simulation and clinical settings Willingness and ability to engage in teaching scholarship and ongoing professional development in higher education.
Established relationships with Indigenous communities, groups, and organisations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and industry partners.
