Collaborate across teams to manage identity-related data using tools like Informatica IICS, and promote best practices in data stewardship.
Job Summary The Data Governance Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in advancing the university's data-driven strategy by establishing and leading a comprehensive data governance framework.
This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, security, and accessibility of institutional data across domains.
Through close collaboration with university stakeholders—including business, and IT teams (Integrations, Architecture, Analytics), the Technical Lead will define data standards, stewardship models, and governance structures that align with institutional goals and compliance requirements.
The position leads efforts to improve data quality and consistency across systems such as student information systems (SIS), HR and Identity platforms.
Using tools like Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), the Lead will implement processes for data cataloguing, lineage tracking, metadata management, and automation-driven data quality improvement.
This role also ensures that data privacy and security policies are aligned with regulatory standards.
The Technical Lead will champion a culture of data stewardship by designing and delivering training programs that promote governance best practices.
Skills Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).
Expertise with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), including Data Quality, Catalog etc.
Proficiency in data profiling, lineage tracking, cataloguing, and business glossary creation.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations relevant to higher education.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional working groups and facilitate consensus among stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to interpret complex data flows and integration patterns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for engaging with business and IT leaders.
Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to communicate governance insights.
Work Experience7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles.5+ years of experience leading data governance or integration initiatives in a complex enterprise or university setting.
Hands-on experience implementing governance tools (preferably Informatica) in a cloud or hybrid environment.
Experience implementing and operationalising data governance frameworks, including policy creation, stewardship models, and escalation workflows.
Demonstrated experience establishing and tracking Data Quality Metrics (DQMs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and data health dashboards.
Experience in training or mentoring staff and faculty on data governance policies, tools, and practices.
Ability to bridge business and technical perspectives—working effectively with both IT teams and business stakeholders.
