Staff Software Engineer Location: Sydney or Melbourne – Hybrid Reports to: Group Engineering Manager Stakeholders: 80% Internal, 20% External Direct Reports: None The Opportunity: This is a fast-growing fintech building the infrastructure that helps Australians keep more of what they earn.

The platform simplifies complex financial admin for over 13,000 employers and nearly half a million users.

You'll play a lead role in the next chapter - engineering more innovative products, modernising core systems, and scaling a platform that's used weekly, not yearly.

This is a hands-on engineering role, focused on building, optimising, and guiding, not people management or abstract oversight.

What You'll Do: Lead cross-functional technical initiatives across teams and systems.

Design and implement an architecture that scales under pressure Solve high-stakes technical problems before they hit production.

Mentor senior engineers and enforce technical standards.

Work closely with Product and Engineering to align tech with business.

Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve velocity, quality, and resilience What You Bring:10+ years in IC software engineering, including 3+ in a senior technical leadership role Deep expertise in distributed systems, architecture, and scalability Strong background in CI/CD, OOP (C#.

NET, Java, or C++), and one modern JS framework (React, Next.js, Angular)Experienced with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and databases (SQL Server, Postgres, Redis)Proficient in tools like Data Dog, Launch Darkly, and Twilio Segment You influence through technical credibility, not authority.
