About the role As a fitter at Rocky Point Sugar Mill, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the machinery and equipment essential to the sugar mill and power station's operations.
This full-time role will see you working in a fast-paced industrial environment at our South East QLD location.

What you'll be doing

Conducting routine maintenance and inspections on a range of industrial machinery and equipment including conveyors, centrifuges, crushing mills, pumps, valves, gearboxes, steam turbines etc.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues, and implementing effective repair solutions.
Overhauling, rebuilding and modifying machinery components as required.
Utilizing a range of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment (lathes, drill press etc.) to carry out maintenance and repair tasks
Documenting work performed and maintaining detailed records.
Collaborating with the wider maintenance and operations teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Adhering to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

What we're looking for

Formal trade qualification as a Fitter or Boilermaker with relevant experience
Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing setting
Sound mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as workshop machinery
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on safety and environmental compliance

What we offer

Full time shift work during season (2nd June to late November)

48 hours / week as a 12-day fortnight (8 hour shifts)
Overtime paid at double time after 38 hours during operations
12.5% additional loading on ordinary time for afternoon shift, 15% additional loading for night shift

Full-time daywork during off-season
5-weeks annual leave plus leave loading
On-site houses available at $350 / week during season
