About the role The National Disability Inclusion Participation Specialist will play an integral role in ensuring that our Aussie Rules community football participation programs are inclusive, accessible and delivered within safe environments.
Sitting within Game Development and reporting to the National Participation Growth Manager – Indigenous and Inclusion, this is a key position that provides leadership and strategic direction to the broader national participation workforce, ensuring that future footy participation opportunities are more inclusive and accessible (community, Auskick, Superkick, Nines and Schools).
The location of this role is flexible, and we encourage applicants from all States and Territories to apply.

Note: this role is a Max Term until approx Dec 2026.
Day in the life – responsibilities Provide leadership, strategic direction, development and formal reviews of initiatives to make Australian football more inclusive and accessible for people with disability – driving participation growth.
Support participation and program workforce around the country with development and implementation of effective strategies to engage and connect with people with disability; including delivery of programs, competitions and development pathways.
Build relationships and partnerships with relevant AFL Departments and external partners and communities to support program and initiative delivery.
Work with relevant stakeholders to continue to develop modified versions of AFL catering for people with various disabilities, including classification requirements, rules, resources, coaching and officiating content.
Work with national and state staff to oversee and/or support delivery of national and state disability inclusion competitions and events.
Work with relevant internal staff and external partners to develop plans to build capability of staff to deliver programs for people with disability.
Support and contribute to the success of the broader team.
Must have Strong knowledge, experience and understanding of types of disabilities.
Experience in working with people with disability (5+ years), including ability to develop and modify sport to remove barriers to participation for people with disability and an understanding of classification systems.
Demonstrated experience in partnering with and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders.
Strong leadership and relationship management across a geographically diverse team.
Able to innovate, challenge convention and manage change.
Event management skills.
Valid Working with Children Check.
