The Opportunity

Noosa Council, in partnership with Get Skilled Access are looking for an Inclusion Coach for a 2-year temporary appointment. This grant funded position, employed by Noosa Council in partnership with Get Skilled Access sits within Noosa Council's Sport and Active Lifestyles Branch, however will be provided with support from Get Skilled Access to undertake reporting requirements for both organisations.

The Inclusion Coach will use their real-life disability experiences and the experiences of their network to build relationships with the clubs and schools which will help them to understand the purpose of Sport4All and the benefits and opportunities the program can bring.

The successful incumbent will work to connect local sporting clubs and schools with the Sport4All website and resources, then help them to complete the Sport4All training program. It is intended the Sport4All program will increase the inclusivity and accessibility of community sporting organisations for people with a disability in the Noosa Shire.

About You

To undertake this position, you will have a disability or lived connection to disability with great connection to community (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply).

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across a range of audiences using a range of mediums, to build effective working relationships and networks relevant to the role.

Furthermore, as the successful applicant you will have the ability to connect with grassroots sporting clubs, regional associations, state, national sporting bodies as well as teachers, school leadership and other school staff.

The position's focus will be:

  • Support a continuous improvement approach and ensure community sporting organisations are well positioned and supported into the future to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Ability to work autonomously as part of a broader Sport and Active Lifestyles Branch.
  • Using the Sport4All programs, training and resources to deliver the Sport4All Program to increase the inclusivity and accessibility of community sporting organisations for people with a disability in the Noosa Shire. Including planning, delivery and evaluation of face-to-face training and activities.
  • Analysing programs in order to track performance and identify improvement opportunities in relation to performance, quality, efficiency and standards.
  • Liaise with relevant staff of local schools, sport club volunteers and other professionals in the education and sports industries.
  • Supported by the Sport4All QLD State Manager, use your lived experience of disability to provide council employees an opportunity to grow and learn about the difference between disability, accessibility, and inclusion and its relation to sport.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as schools and clubs to identify needs, determine priorities and facilitate outcomes for increased engagement in Sport4All:
    • You will help sporting clubs and schools to connect and build relationships with other relevant organisations to achieve their inclusion goals.
    • Check in, assess, and support sports clubs, schools, and organisations to create more inclusive sporting opportunities for people with disability
    • Support schools and clubs to deliver inclusive sports activities such as sessions and workshops.
    • Promote the Sport4All Program and educate community groups about how participating in sports can help people with disability.
    • Interact and share with a diverse range of groups within the community, the opportunities for people with disability to participate in all sporting activities.
    • Provide council with research and data to support the sporting needs of people with disability within the local community.
    • Maintain up to date records and data on clubs, schools and organisations that connect and complete the Sport4All Program, as well as reporting accurate data on people with disability participating in sport within the local community.
    • Lead and promote compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures, including equity and health & safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same.

The Sport4All program helps sporting clubs and schools to be more accessible and inclusive for people with disability. The Program is being delivered by Get Skilled Access under the name Sport4All and funded to partner with local governments across Australia through the Australian Sports Commission.
