Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Centre Manager to join School of Psychology and Counselling, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.

The position entails leading the Centre's administrative aspects to ensure efficient achievement of goals and objectives. This includes managing resources such as operational staff, budget, and technical assets in line with the Centre's Strategic Plan. The position requires developing Centre policies and plans that comply with partner organisations, ARC requirements, and the Centre's strategy. This includes ensuring adherence to various internal and external codes, policies, regulations, and fulfilling reporting obligations.

The role also encompasses providing leadership for Centre activities, coordinating with university teams for the development of research grant funding, consultancies, and commercial projects in alignment with Centre KPIs. This involves the creation of agreements, contracts, and managing research and consulting activities. The position requires collaborative efforts with senior professional staff across the School, Faculty, and University to advise on Centre operations and support the Centre Director in decision-making. Key responsibilities include conceptualising and executing the Centre's communications and engagement strategy, managing branding, stakeholder engagement, and enhancing public visibility. The role also involves managing industry partnerships and overseeing projects external to the Training Centre that contribute to its visibility and engagement.

About the area

The Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre for Automated Vehicles in Rural and Remote Regions (AVR3) is a collaboration between QUT, The University of Sydney (USyd), The University of Western Australia (UWA), The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Deakin University (DU), and 32 official partner organisations. The Centre conducts applied research into Automated Vehicles, their deployment and integration within communities, and economical model associated with. It builds on the work being conducted by the partner, and aims to engineer user-centric solutions improving road safety and training a large workforce across the domains covered by the centre. The Centre is a national facility and reporting requirements are to the ARC.

What you need to succeed

Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience. Leadership and management skills with the demonstrated ability to build and manage large, transdisciplinary teams, to provide positive leadership to staff, and to connect and collaborate with varied groups across an organisation. Demonstrated ability to develop policies, and objectives involving high level consultation with internal and external parties and experience in critically evaluating systems and processes to achieve ongoing improvements at a strategic and operational level. Extensive written and verbal communication skills with well-developed analytical and research skills that enable you to prepare a range of complex correspondence and influence stakeholders from various backgrounds using a variety of digital technologies. Demonstrated resource, financial management and budgeting experience, with demonstrated expertise in project management, including contract and grant management. Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, high demand role, requiring flexibility and the skills to monitor and progress multiple projects and teams simultaneously, with demonstrated expertise in engaging with and activating complex networks and teams, spread across various locations, that have a diverse set of backgrounds and functions. Demonstrated ability in negotiation, engagement, and collaboration with industry partners and diverse stakeholder networks both locally and internationally.

Remuneration: $130,901 to $148,369 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $110,613 to $125,373 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
