About the role

We are on the lookout for a collaborative and innovative Community & Recreation Infrastructure Advisor to join our team With a focus on providing progressive services through exceptional customer experiences, you will provide advice and assist with the strategic planning of Council's recreation, leisure and community facilities. This includes:

  • Planning: consultation with both internal and external agencies to provide input and advice on community and recreation infrastructure requirements and DA referrals.
  • Collaboration & Engagement: establish working relationships with community groups, sporting associations, professional groups and other government agencies to support effective planning and delivery of community infrastructure.
  • Financial: Identify funding sources and prepare applications to secure funding for projects, programs and initiatives.
  • Research: identify and undertake research to analyse, develop, prepare and review innovative and effective strategies and policies in accordance with emerging issues and Council's strategic framework.
  • Projects: manage multiple projects within established budgets and timeframes to deliver reports and strategic documents that inform management and the community on the provision of exceptional design delivery for our residents.

Please note that for recruitment purposes, this role is advertised as a different title to align to the external market and internally, this role is known as "Recreation Planner".

About you

Our ideal candidate will embrace Council's Guiding Principles and foster a strong customer service culture, championing Council's community and recreation visions outlined in our Delivery and Operational plans to make a lasting impact on our community.

Holding degree qualifications in Recreational/Sport Management Community Infrastructure Planning or Social Planning (or a related similar discipline) is advantageous, but overall, you will have contemporary industry knowledge and experience in recreation, leisure and open space planning.

Your ability to research and analyse information to contribute to strategic plans, reports and policies will be highly developed and additionally, you will have demonstrated project management experience and highly adept interpersonal skills that will foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
