The Role
My client is seeking a Survey Drafter to join their team, focusing on all survey drafting and computational activities. This role involves collaborating with the Urban Planning Consultants and the consulting team, offering opportunities for professional growth,mentorship, and skill diversification for those ready for a new challenge. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with leadership qualities, strong technical skills, and a thorough understanding of survey concepts and quality control. You will thrive in this position if you are computer-savvy, skilled in managing code tables, and Planning, Development, and Infrastructure Act 206, Planning and Design Code, and other relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Creating detailed maps and drawings based on data collected from land surveys. These can include topographic maps, boundary maps, and subdivision plans.Analysing and interpreting raw survey data, such as measurements and coordinates, to ensure accuracy in the final drafts.Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify detailed drawings and plans. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.Ensuring that all drawings and plans comply with local regulations, zoning laws, and land use policies. This often involves working closely with surveyors, engineers, and planners.Revising and updating plans based on changes or new information from ongoing surveys or project modifications.Working with other professionals, including surveyors, civil engineers, architects, and project managers, to gather necessary information and ensure that drafts meet project specifications.Compiling and preparing reports that may accompany the plans and maps, providing detailed explanations of the survey data and drafting processes.Keeping accurate records of all drafts, revisions, and project-related documents for future reference and regulatory compliance.Performing quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and precision of all drafted documents and plans.Communicating with clients or stakeholders to discuss project requirements, review drafts, and make necessary adjustments based on feedback.
The Requirements
Associate's degree or higher in drafting, surveying, civil engineering, or a related fieldProficiency in AutoCAD softwarePrevious experience in drafting, surveying, or related fields, with practical experience in land development and land division projects preferred.Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication.Willingness to learn and adapt, with the ability to think creatively about solutions and continuously improve.Proficient in the conversion of imperial measurements to metric and experience working with angles/bearings desirableKnowledge or experience using Land Services SA's Digital Plan Lodgement system and CAD standards will be advantageousKnowledge or experience of cadastral survey drafting and the Plan Presentation Guidelines will be advantageous
