Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Systems Program Office
The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) through the Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Systems Program Office (MCDSPO) is responsible for acquisition and through-life support of a number of Navy ships, equipment and systems. The mission of the MCDSPO is to acquire and sustain Mine Warfare, Clearance Diving and Hyperbaric assets so the ADF can fight and win in the Maritime environment.
The Opportunity:
The Project Manager for SEA1910 will work within the project team from pre- Gate 0 Phase to the Acquisition Phase (including transition to Sustainment Phase) of the Defence Capability Life Cycle.
The Project Manager is answerable to the Program Manager on a day-to-day basis, and to the MCDSPO Director, D&H ISS Manager and Sustainment Manager for matters pertaining to transition of the capability.
The Project Manager is required to work at MCDSPO located in HMAS WATERHEN.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:
- Responsible for the management of schedule, risk, budget and resources, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Apply established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies.
- Identify risks and opportunities and take account of these in planning, decision making and priority setting.
- Analyse and interpret project performance against agreed plans and develop and evaluate strategies to achieve project outcomes.
- Accountable to manage a range of project activities and coordinate project inputs in accordance with organisational practices, methods and standards appropriate to the
- Interpret and ensure compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
- Demonstrated competence and experience in Project Management
- Demonstrated experience in current Capability Life Cycle
- Background within Defence Maritime environment
- Previous experience working under the Defence seaworthiness management system advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team to successful outcomes
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
Desirable:
- Knowledge of defence writing standards and internal defence processes
- Engineering Degree
- Project management qualifications
