What's the job?

As the Village Handyperson, you will be in charge of maintaining and enhancing all areas of the Village, Contractor Camp, and Palm Wing. With high standards matching our own, you'll tackle every task with dedication and pride.

Your day-to-day

  • Complete maintenance tasks across the Village, Contractor Camp, and Palm Wing
  • Perform maintenance work in Village public areas
  • Ability to operate a forklift is advantageous
  • Help with setting up and taking down room inventory assets
  • Maintain gardens and lawns, including waste and litter removal
  • Assist in maintaining various areas like the Village kitchen, shop, laundry, gyms, and bar
  • Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues to carry out maintenance tasks in all resort areas
  • Responsible for reprogramming the Village door lock system when needed
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws
  • Assist in handling after-hours emergencies
  • Follow InterContinental Hayman Island Resort and Hayman Island Village policies and procedures
  • Perform other assigned duties by the Village Operations Manager

What we need from you

  • Experience in an engineering or hotel resort maintenance role
  • Hold a Queensland safety induction White Card
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Email, and reporting tools like Hardcat
  • Familiarity with maintenance equipment, engineering tools, and hand tools
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Physical fitness for prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling
  • Possess a Queensland driver's license for resort mobility
  • Excellent communication skills
