  • Be employed as a Casual Learn to Swim Instructor
  • Hourly rate from $36.23 plus 11% super plus weekend rates
  • Burwood Council will sponsor and train you for this role

Burwood Council currently has a unique opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join our Learn to Swim team and make a real difference to the water safety of our community.

By joining our Learn to Swim team, you will gain:

  • A Casual job at our expanding Aquatic Centre
  • A Royal Life Swimming and Water Safety Certificate, fully funded by Council
  • Valuable teaching skills to provide swimming and water safety instruction
  • Engagement with small group classes to motivate participants and impart a life skill

What do you need to apply for this opportunity?

  • A reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability
  • Minimum age of 15 years
  • Ability to work from 3:00pm on weekdays. Weekend shifts also possible
  • Two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical assessment at no cost

What does the training process involve?

  • Self-paced online training
  • One-day face to face practical workshop, included CPR Certificate
  • Completion of trial teaching hours at Enfield Aquatic Centre

What do you need to commit to?

  • Time to complete training
  • Obtain a Working with Children Check through Service NSW, simple online form (cost is approximately $80)
