About the team

The Outsourced Accounting team provides advisory and finance function services to a diverse and exciting client base. These services include finance function reviews, finance transformation projects, management accounting services including budgeting and forecasting, bookkeeping, payroll, Business Activity Statement preparation, digital application advisory, API development, financial statement preparation, audit liaison and can include full Virtual CFO services. Current opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager/Senior Manager to join our Outsourced Accounting team. This role is integral to our continued growth and our commitment to exceptional client service to our existing and expanding client base. The successful candidate will be part of our BDO Business Services & Outsourcing team.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our clients, demonstrating a keen interest in understanding their business drivers. With strong client management skills and a background in a professional service accounting, the candidate should have a passion for service and using technology in the provision of exceptional outcomes paired with a desire to diversify their skillset and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivery lead for the outsourced finance function services for our clients (includes bookkeeping, treasury functions, payroll, compliance (activity statements), management reporting, general purposes financial statements).
  • Delivery lead for one-off finance transformation projects and the assessment, re-design, and implementation of the updated systems (including applications), processes and controls for better overall performance of our client's finance function. We are happy to train and guide the right individual to build out this skill set.
  • Support ongoing advisory work, including budgeting and forecasting and attendance at quarterly performance review meetings with the clients.
  • Lead, review the work of, and mentor junior team members.
  • Manage risk for our clients and for BDO.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in in a commercial or public practice environment within business advisory field
  • CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experienced with Xero (essential).
  • Knowledge of Fathom, Approval Max, Employment Hero and Dext (desired).
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Ability to oversee a team and support their ongoing development.
  • Resourcefulness, reliability, and conscientiousness with a willingness to work as part of team.
  • Ability to manage a client portfolio, including all deliverables and budgets/WIP.
