Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Our Role

As we continue to expand our team to ensure success in developing our new infrastructure, we have created some new roles to support our operations further.

We have an opportunity for an Asset Health Technician to join the team responsible for monitoring and reporting the condition of critical process plant equipment. You'll play a key role in Newmont Tanami Operation's predictive maintenance strategy as well as supporting the production and maintenance teams with technical expertise to ensure high reliability on critical equipment on site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordination and completion of Vibration Analysis, Oil analysis, thermographs, UT and other Condition Monitoring Techniques.
  • Providing timely reports and expert advice to internal customers on suitable courses of action and monitor implementation plans.
  • Maintaining the Condition Monitoring Database integrity
  • Maintaining the site condition monitoring programs
  • Creation and continuous improvement of the Condition Monitoring Strategies.
  • Developing diagnostic tools to predict equipment failures and minimize safety and production impact.
  • Actively participate in root cause investigations into equipment failures.
  • Coaching, leading and developing other employees on condition monitoring techniques
  • Leading and managing contractors and specialist consultants who support us. Identifying and managing external resources for the completion of condition monitoring works.
  • Providing specialist support to the maintenance team on lubrication issues acting as a specialist and applying best practices in hydro carbon management.
  • Analysing lubrication routines and leading improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with the delivery of work systems and procedures to ensure that condition monitoring requirements are met for the ongoing safe reliable operation and maintenance of equipment in the process plant and associated areas.
  • Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with safe work procedures and processes; developing procedures and processes when needed.
  • Assisting in identifying and implementing continuous reliability improvements on critical assets.
  • Establishing systems and processes to ensure all works are in compliance with Newmont's standards and industry best practice.

Our fully equipped camp offers leisure facilities and is located 40km from the site.

About You

We are seeking an experienced mining professional with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in Lubrication and Condition Monitoring techniques. You will bring with you strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of internal customers.

Key skills required include:

  • Vibration Training – ISO Level 2 (ISO Certification :2003)
  • Machine Lubrication Technician Level I (ICML)
  • Machine Lubricant Analyst Level II (ICML)
  • Thermal / Infrared Testing – Level 1 (AINDT TT-01)
  • Ultrasonic Testing Level 2 (AINDT EA613)
