Learn to Swim Victoria is part of Surrey Park Swimming established in 1904 and is one of the oldest clubs in Australia. Our not-for-profit organisation seeks to provide the best club and lesson environment in Victoria to ensure all swimmers are reaching their full potential and building a love for the sport of swimming. We are currently seeking engaging casual Swim Instructors to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be reliable with high levels of customer satisfaction in ensuring a safe environment in delivering quality swimming lessons.
Work will be available at Learn to Swim Victoria, Heidelberg. The position hours operate Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 7:30pm and weekends at various times between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Morning, afternoon and weekend shifts available.
Key roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic, effective, engaging, safe, and fun lessons for students;
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, positive, and motivating environment;
- Regularly providing constructive and positive feedback to students on their progress;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your teaching style
- Plan and manage your lessons and time effectively
- Ensure the safety of swimmers at all times
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
- Current teaching of swimming and water safety qualification (e.g. Austswim, Swim Australia);
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate;
- Current Play by the rules Child Protection and Harassment & Discrimination modules; and
- Current and cleared Victorian employment Working with Children Check (or volunteer Working with Children Check if under 18 years).
Experience (desirable but not essential):
- Teaching qualification extension courses: Infants and Pre-schoolers/Competitive Strokes/Adults/Inclusion/Development or higher coaching accreditation
- Pool Lifeguard;
- First Aid;
- Current Victorian Driver's License;
- Degree in primary teaching and/or sport science; and
- Austswim assessor or equivalent.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience
