Job Description:



The Portfolio Scheduler will work as the primary point of contact and work closely with Project Managers and Program Managers (PM's), technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), team leaders and the Capital Works Portfolio Manager to provide highly technical project scheduling and reporting services from identification to handover of projects. This includes but is not limited to schedule baselining, review schedules, milestones management, budget profiling and forecasting, and status reporting services across the portfolio in a client based organisation.

This position will reinforce CoM's Project Management Framework (PMF) and enhance the Management of Capital Works Portfolio to assure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects within the Capital Works Portfolio

Job Requirements:
  • You will have a dood understanding of project management frameworks, delivery phases and approval gates process
  • Skilled in the development, provision, and/or management of the success of metrics
  • Be able to define WBS and project activities using SoW, Drawing, BoM and Cost Estimates
  • Ability to work both as a team and independently with competing demands Skill in training to derive the best outcome from collaborative exercises
  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellen
  • Profound analytical skills, understanding of change control processes and monthly projects and portfolio reporting
  • Excellent knowledge in Earned Value Management and Earned Schedule is necessary
  • Excellent organisational skills, facilitating workshops and influencing others along with sound verbal, written and presentation skills
Qualification & Experience:
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction or similar relevant discipline. Having accreditation, official training or post-grad in Project Management or Construction Management will be highly regarded
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in master scheduling for portfolios or programs of projects
  • Demonstrated experience in a client-based organisation delivering engineering-construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience and proven skills in using MS-Project in portfolio level is required
  • Advance expertise in Excel (effective use of formulas is must, VBA is desirable), Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in data visualisation through dashboards is highly advantageous (preferably with experience with Power BI)
  • Experience in defining, implementing, and maintaining project control related tasks, including integration with project accounting/costing function
