Position Overview

Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol and Drug Services (MHJHADS), a Division of CHS, provides a range of health services to youth and adults directly and through partnerships with community organisations.

The services provided range from prevention and treatment through to recovery and maintenance.

MHJHADS services are provided in inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, justice health facilities and other community settings by mobile teams.

MHJHADS aims to be socially inclusive and operate within a recovery-focussed and/or harm minimisation approach.

Consumer and carer participation is encouraged in all aspects of service planning and delivery and the Division works in partnership with consumers, carers, and a range of Government and non-government service providers to ensure best possible outcomes for clients.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) section of MHJHADS provides specialist inpatient and community based mental health assessment and treatment services for children and adolescents experiencing moderate to severe mental illness/disorder with significant functional impairment, associated complex needs and risk.

CAMHS also governs several specialist MHJHADS services.

The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee s Specialist College.


The position will be accountable and responsible to the Director of Clinical Services through an Individual Strengths, Engagement and Development Plan.

The Clinical Director Position is 0.5FTE. The position holder will have the opportunity and be encouraged to work further clinical FTE with CAMHS.


The successful applicant will have specialist experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and skills in both inpatient and community services.

The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in the mandatory administrative, governance and training requirements of medical officers within the Division.

Emphasis on recovery focus and person-centred care are essential.

Remunerations and benefits for this position include:

Up to $55,000 in reimbursement of relocation expenses for permanent and long-term appointments

Medical Education Expenses allowance reimbursement up to $19,782 per annum

Generous leave provisions, including up to 4 weeks training/education leave and up to 5 weeks annual leave per annum

Salary Packaging with many options that provide full fringe benefits tax concessions
