Based in Townsville, our Electronic Repair Centre is looking for an experienced Telecommunications Technician to join their team. This role will require you to carry out the installation, maintenance and repair of radio and miscellaneous electronic equipment and report on the performance and condition of the asset to ensure safe and effective operation.

This role will be best suited to a candidate with proven experience in RF (Radio Frequency) systems, and bench repair to component level. Knowledge of and experience in telemetry and remote monitoring equipment will be considered an advantage.

Staff performing this role are frequently part of a team from the Electronic Repair Centre and Install and Maintenance sections performing field maintenance.

There is a considerable amount of travel throughout northern and central Queensland in this role.

About the Role

This is fundamentally a test, measure, fault find, repair or replace from component level to module level position.


• Install, maintain and repair radio and miscellaneous electronic equipment to component level in accordance with predefined work programs.


• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) requirements and legislative policies.


• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specification and standards.


• Maintain records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems.


• Report on actual work performed against the scheduled maintenance program and equipment performance and condition irregularities.


• Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of assuring and continuously improving quality.

About you


• Nat Driver's License C (Qld)


• Electronics Trade Certificate (similar and comparable qualifications in electronics will be considered).


• Sound knowledge of RF (Radio Frequency) systems and general electronics.


• Experience in electronic bench repair to component level.


• Experience in field maintenance and installation of radio and telemetry equipment.


• Be available for call out/stand by duties, overtime and higher-grade relief as required.


• Work away from home station and travel throughout Queensland as required.


• Undertake further training considered necessary for the effective performance of the duties associated with the position and career development.
