About the Opportunity:
The Principal Support and Engagement Officer reports to the Manager, Education Systems Engagement, Customer Engagement, Information and Technologies Branch and is responsible for delivering the following program of work:

  • Annual i-Educate conference
  • see here
  • the department's premier technology conference for ~650+ Queensland state school delegates
  • Biennial IT Branch meeting the coming together of all IT Branch staff (~700pax) for the purpose of reflecting on successes, increasing collaboration and building a shared understanding of the department's strategy and the voice of the customer
  • Annual new schools round table event this event allows leadership teams from new schools (i.e., those opening the subsequent calendar year) to meet with key ITB teams to support new school planning
  • Coordinating ITB representation at external conferences (e.g., those organised by relevant associations)
  • Venue hire and event coordination at the Digital Futures Hub The Digital Futures Hub (DFH) is a department facility located at the University of Sunshine Coast (USC) Sippy Downs campus. It will be available for internal and external hire and is used to host departmental professional development events

About the Role:
Within the scope of the Responsibilities in the Role Description, you will coordinate the planning and delivery of events and venue hire, including:

  • Driving the coordination and delivery of all aspects of high-quality events which meet organisational needs (e.g., prepare and manage events project plans and budgets; negotiate contracts for venues, catering, audio-visual equipment, signage, on-site production; oversee ticket sales; and post-event details)
  • Coordinating development of event programs that meet event objectives
  • Chairing working groups and leading stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders to develop a complete understanding of the requirements for every event and ensure stakeholder support
  • Liaising with departmental and branch engagement and communications teams regarding the planning and promotion of events and development of event collateral (e.g., website, app, promotional communications)
  • Developing event success metrics, gathering feedback and data after events and using data to inform decisions/future plans
  • Define, maintain, review and improve team systems and processes to increase efficiency and improve outcomes.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Have demonstrated experience managing multiple, competing priorities and leading with focus and optimism in an environment of complexity and ambiguity
  • Be a team player with experience working with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues in other teams to deliver outcomes
  • Ability to proactively manage risks and issues, and identify creative solutions to emerging problems.
