About this role

Sydney Water have partnered with Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) to deliver; design, construct, maintenance and facilities management services as part of the P4S program in Sydney Water's Southern Region.

D4C is a consortium of John Holland, Service Stream and WSP. Over a 10-year period, D4C will provide long term employment opportunities to diversify the skills of the people in the Southern Region of Sydney as well as create pathways to enter the water industry.

We are delivering a number of projects within this long-term program with Sydney Water and have identified the need for a Process Engineer to provide support across multiple programs.

Primary Objective: The Process Engineer is responsible for the development and issuance of engineering and design deliverables in accordance with project requirements.

Core Duties

  • Develop and arrange for issue of preliminary and detailed design documentation and other design deliverables, in accordance with project requirements and industry best practice, that support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Deliver designs in accordance with agreed budget and schedule requirements.
  • Deliver designs that are compliant with Australian and Sydney Water Standards and obtain approved deviations where the design is not able to comply.
  • Deliver designs that support the safe and cost-effective construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and demolition of the asset.
  • Undertake field and desktop investigations to determine the condition, appropriateness, and capacity of existing infrastructure and sites to support and interface with the project requirements.
  • Undertake investigations to obtain and confirm the validity of all information needed to support engineering and design activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to produce multi-discipline designs.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders including Sydney Water representatives, suppliers, vendors, construction team members and maintenance team members to confirm project requirements.
  • Document or work with Drafters / Modelers to document design deliverables and the design development process in a clear and unambiguous form that presents complex information and results effectively, to technical and non-technical users in accordance with D4C management system requirements.


Essential Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent
  • Membership of a recognised professional association (i.e. IEAUST, IChemE, ICE, etc)
  • 7 - 15 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Well established technical skills within discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings.
  • Ability to prepare concise engineering reports.
  • Well-developed report writing skills including technical and grammar.
