Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a teacher in the Design Technology area who possesses the dedication and drive to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. An appointment to Harrisdale SHS presents a tremendously exciting opportunity to join the staff of a new high school committed to improving students' lives through learning and achievement.
We provide a high level of support for teachers at all stages of their careers, from our robust graduate and mentor programme for pre-service and early career teachers to ongoing development and leadership opportunities for experienced educators. The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity to help build on an already high-functioning area within the school's Design Technology team and will be supported through a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. At Harrisdale SHS, we are a Visible Learning, Teach Well, and Growth Coaching school.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a passionate teacher of Design Technology, committed to excellence in teaching and learning. They should ideally demonstrate reflective practices that enhance their professional knowledge, understanding, and experience, enabling them to deliver an engaging and relevant Design Technology curriculum at the secondary school level. The candidate should ideally be an enthusiastic adopter of a school-wide pedagogy based on explicit instruction and eager to work collaboratively with colleagues across the learning area and school.
Successful experience teaching Design Technology with a focus on Wood, Metal, Engineering, and Construction will be highly regarded. Holding a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is ideal, but we are committed to supporting the successful applicant with opportunities to obtain this qualification.
Harrisdale SHS, which opened in 2017 at the Year 7 level, has now grown to serve over 2200 students in Years 7 to 12 as of 2024. Located in the City of Armadale, Harrisdale SHS caters to the rapidly growing population in Perth's south-eastern corridor. Our school excels at a high level by supporting the school community in all aspects of wellbeing, leadership, teaching, learning, and connection.
Harrisdale is also a Specialist Gifted and Talented Program school. Along with our academic programs, we offer numerous extra-curricular activities that cater to our diverse and rich culture.
