About the facility
Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West Region. It is Victoria's largest regional health services with one of the busiest Hospital's in the State, University Hospital Geelong. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 7,500 staff and more than 1,200 volunteers.
We provide care at all stages of life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care and subacute/rehabilitation.
Care is provide to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.
Barwon Health's Safety and Quality unit provides support to the organisation in the areas of accreditation, incident and complaint management, clinical audit, risk management, policy and procedure management, medico-legal services and consumer-centred care.
About the role
The Central Sterilising Unit (CSU) and Satellite Reprocessing Unit (SRU) are well-equipped, spacious and modern facilities which provide reprocessing services to all Barwon Health internal and external sites and departments, the largest of these being our busy Operating Services
As the Instrument Technician (Grade 5) you will manage the work flow and function of the CSU or SRU floor.
Your role will be to address and overcome challenges that arise with the changing needs of the unit and the organisation while maintaining a high standard of practice in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures as well as AS/NZS 5369:2024.
You will be responsible for ensuring that contaminated and sterile items are collected, stored and distributed in a manner specified by the relevant policies, procedures and standards pertaining to Infection Prevention and the CSU/SRU.
