The Division architects, manages and supports the largest technology network in Victoria, supporting a user base of approximately 750,000 staff and students, and provides support to the Early Childhood Education and Higher Education and Skills portfolios.

IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration.

About the opportunity

This is an exciting, fixed term opportunity for a Security Operations Lead within the IT Services Branch / ICT Security Operations.

This role contributes to the overall success of the Security Monitoring and Operations function to protect networks, devices and key enterprise systems that are crucial in supporting important education outcomes for Victorian government schools.

A key component is the use of Splunk SIEM technology that is used to monitor security health, administer alerts, and drive automated response.

About you

  • Strong experience delivering security outcomes using protection and detection technologies including Splunk, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, and cloud posture monitoring of Azure and AWS.
  • Experience and aptitude for cyber threat intelligence and analysis activities including forecasting, monitoring, and evaluation techniques utilising a range of telemetry and technology.
  • Experience responding to threat intelligence and events to determine incident impacts, consequences, and provide appropriate response to investigate, contain, and eradicate threats
  • Worked with incident control teams in situations that provide prompt containment, situational updates and forensic support
  • Understand the Department's values, want to work in the public sector, and will abide by the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct.
