About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Senior Corporate Accountant -Reconciliations.

The role will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records by reconciling balance sheet accounts.

This position sits within our Corporate Finance team but work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance and contribute to the overall financial health of Metcash.

In this Role

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis, including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
  • Investigate and resolve variances and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and support reconciliation activities.
  • Document reconciliation processes and procedures and assist in month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives related to process improvements, system enhancements, and audits.
  • Advise and mentor onshore and offshore teams to best practice reconciliation solutions
You're Likely a Match If

  • You bring solid experience in accounting or finance, with heavy focus on balance sheet reconciliations
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA/CA certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • You have proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g. D365, SAP, Oracle).
  • You're equipped with excellent analytical, attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
