About this opportunity

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with the CEO and Mayor to resolve queries, provide diary management, travel and office administration and deliver professional executive support on matters escalated to the office of the CEO. You will also engage with and support as required other Councillors and Executive Management team.
  • Undertake research and analysis to provide advice and support to the CEO and Mayor and establish effective liaison mechanisms with the CEO, Mayor, Leadership Team and other members of staff.
  • Prepare written correspondence, sensitive internal organisational communications, presentations, speech notes, website material, video design and proof read documentation relevant to the CEO's office and CEO communications.
  • Collate service key performance reports and analyse data and trends.
  • Support the promotion (both internally and externally) of critical work including Advocacy, Organisational Strategy, Planning and Reporting, Research; and Community and Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Attend (as required) Council meetings, public events and functions (including some outside hours) to support the CEO and Councillors.
  • Coordinate the planning, catering and implementation of civic functions, official openings and activities on behalf of Council, including citizenships ceremonies.

What you will bring

  • Extensive experience in supporting senior executives and/or Government officials.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish productive working relationships with people across of the community.
  • High level of political acumen and a demonstrated ability to display discretion and establish processes to maintain confidentiality.
  • Welldeveloped capacity to manage workflow priorities and workloads, effectively meet deadlines and with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across a range of technology and software and a willingness to embrace new software as required.
  • Demonstrated capacity to prepare high quality written materials in multiple formats, including experience in speech writing, correspondence, presentations and briefing/research papers.
  • Applicants with experience in coordinating government/civic events and relevant tertiary qualifications including Media, Journalism, Communications or Public Relations will be highly regarded.
