We are looking for experienced disability support workers to help support our clients on the north side of Brisbane in the Moreton Bay region.

Short and long shifts (4 & 7 Hrs), weekend work are available.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for vibrant and caring, people-focused individuals who will shape and improve the lives of our participants.

We regularly engage in outdoor and community activities such as Australia Zoo, Aussie World, Mooloolaba Sea Life, Horse Riding, Fishing and hiking as well as indoor activities like artwork, cooking, board games, and electronics; so to do well in this role, you will have:

  • Positive attitude with high energy levels and the ability to have fun with Participants, tempered with strength and adaptability to deal calmly with challenging situations and behaviours with a rational approach;
  • Ability to work as part of a team to support Participants achieve their goals;
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills, with the ability to recognise and interpret verbal and nonverbal cues; and
  • A genuine interest in ASD, ADHD and the disability sector.

THE ROLE
As a Disability Support Worker, you will undertake a range of activities such as:

  • Individual activities including supported shopping, medical appointments, together with sporting and recreational activities including fishing and 4wding, social activities, horse riding, painting and all sorts of other fun;
  • Assistance with personal activities and daily tasks such as personal care, dressing, medication, cooking meals and domestic duties;
  • Supporting participants with sometimes complex and/or challenging mental health needs; and
  • Writing progress notes and shift reports documenting the activities, challenges and achievements of the day.

You must have:

  • Experience supporting participants conditions such as ADHD, and Autism.
  • A minimum of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or other community service qualifications or experience within the industry (e.g. disability, mental health, community services or youth work etc.);
  • Blue card and Yellow card;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to gain);
  • Drivers licence;
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module; and
  • Vaccination against COVID19. Proof of vaccination will be required prior to commencing.
