TheDepartment of Infectious Diseases at Perth Children's Hospital isseeking a dynamic and highly capable Program Manager. AsManager Infectious Diseases, you will work closelywith the Head of Department, and lead and support our team inproviding exceptional care for children with complex infectionsacross Western Australia.

You willplay a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the operations of theDepartment, overseeing administrative, contractual, and managementprocesses, and facilitating improvements in patient care, changemanagement, and strategic leadership.

Yourresponsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the efficientuse of resources, overseeing clinical and corporate governanceprocesses, including professional supervision, performancemanagement, and training, and consulting and liaising withmedical, nursing, administration, and allied health staff asrequired.
  • Developing andmaintaining clinical databases.
  • Coordinate placement,supervision, and assessment of students and promotingevidence-based practice.
  • Leading safety,quality, and risk management initiatives.
  • Coordinatingcommittees, working groups, and teams to achieve departmentalgoals.
  • Contributing to thedevelopment and implementation of national and state-widestrategies, policies, and service improvements.
  • Staying abreast ofadvances in paediatric infectious diseases and engaging inongoing professional development and education.

  • Strongleadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to read andinterpret financial data.
  • Knowledge ofinfectious diseases (beneficial but not essential).

Aboutour Team

Ourdepartment offers comprehensive statewide inpatient and outpatientservices, to children and adolescents facing chronic, recurrent,acquired, or difficult to treat infectious diseases. We providespecialised services including the statewide management of HIV,tuberculosis (at the Anita Clayton Centre in central Perth), andsyphilis, and antimicrobial stewardship through theChildren's Antimicrobial Management Program (CHAMP), StanPerron Immunisation Service, and a Combined ImmunodeficiencyClinic.

We arededicated to ensuring the optimal use of antibiotics andmaintaining high standards of safety and quality in our services,which intersect across the hospital and the entire state. Weprovide clinical input into infection control and preventionstrategies and work in close collaboration with medical and healthprofessionals, as well as laboratory-based microbiology services atPathWest, and regional and remote teams to support children who aremanaging or at higher risk of infectious diseases.

Throughengaging with our young patients, carers, clinicians, and thehealth service system, we ensure that our patients and theirfamilies are active partners in the continuous improvement of earlydiagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectiousdiseases.

In partnership withthe Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccines and Infectious Diseases atTelethon Kids Institute, we are proud to have secured a NationalHealth and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Award,with $2.8 million of funding which enables our team to work closelywith Aboriginal families and communities –both inmetropolitan and regional areas.
