  Job description:
• The position will provide Biosecurity Tasmania with increased capacity for targeted inspection of high risk host material for Queensland fruit fly and other trade related pests.

  The position will help mitigate the risk of the incursion of fruit fly and similar high risk pests into Tasmania and assist in identifying, preventing and responding to biosecurity risks and implementation of Biosecurity Operations work plans.

Hours per fortnight:

Minimum 50 hours per annum - with majority of hours from October to March - hours will vary, in accordance with an approved roster.

Period of Appointment:

24 months

Duties:

Position Requirements

Pre-employment

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

The following checks are to be conducted:

Conviction check in the following conviction areas:

• Crimes of violence
• Serious drug offences
• Crimes involving dishonesty
• Serious traffic offences
• Any other offences under the _Biosecurity Act 2019_, or related legislation

Essential Requirements:

• Satisfactory security clearance as required by Port Authorities.
• A current motor vehicle driver's licence.

Desirable Requirements:

• A Certificate III or Certificate IV qualification in plant health, animal health, land management or invasive species management biosecurity emergency management or government investigations or statutory compliance relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
