Torres Pilots, located in Cairns & Far North QLD, is actively looking for qualified mariners to join their team as Marine Coastal Pilots.

Torres Pilots Pty Ltd is seeking expressions of interest from experienced individuals to fill the role of Marine Coastal Pilot, providing pilots in the Great Barrier Reef pilotage areas.

They hold an AMSA Pilotage Provider Licence, confirming their compliance with the Coastal Pilotage requirements.

Key responsibilities of our Pilots:

  • Offering clear navigational guidance and information on regulatory requirements to vessel masters
  • Assisting vessel masters in communication with crew and other vessels in the Great Barrier Reef
  • Execution of navigation and bridge management tasks
  • Documenting and submitting passage plans
  • Maintaining the reputation of Torres Pilots through safe operations and exceptional customer service

Minimum Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Hold a Master certificate for ships of 3000+ gross tonnage
  • Hold an AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness
  • Completion of approved pilotage training courses
  • At least 36 months of sea service as a master, navigating officer, or pilot
  • 18 months of service in the last 5 years

Desirable Skills

  • Preferred experience in Pilotage
  • Work experience with multinational crewmembers
