About the Role
As a Principal Software Engineer at Splunk, you'll be a key player in tackling challenges faced by customers in Australia. Your main focus will be to comprehend their needs and offer customized technology solutions to boost their operational success. This role involves leading collaborations between different Splunk teams, influencing design decisions, and contributing to defining the product roadmap. Your contributions will ensure smooth integration and deployment of solutions, fostering strong customer relationships and guiding the strategic direction of our technology.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical contact for customers in the region, understanding and meeting their needs through tailor-made software solutions.
- Lead the design and implementation of solutions that align with both customer requirements and our product capabilities, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
- Cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships, providing expert advice and support throughout the solution's lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams to convey customer insights, driving valuable enhancements to our offerings.
- Lead technical discussions and innovation sessions to enrich our solutions with real-world customer insights, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance meet diverse customer needs.
- Participate in strategic decisions and the evolution of our technology stack through active involvement in technical reviews, acting as a trusted advisor to customers.
Requirements
- Skilled in developing large-scale web applications with high throughput, from architecture design to testing.
- In-depth understanding of microservices and distributed application architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A strong dedication to creating customer-centric solutions that provide value and surpass expectations.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with at least one cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Expertise in Python, Java, or Golang.
- Proficient in at least one RPC framework like thrift and gRPC.
- Experienced in developing and working with well-crafted HTTP APIs, such as REST or GraphQL.
- Rich experience with one or more relational databases & NoSQL databases.
- Sound knowledge and rich experience in working with at least one cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and leadership in engineering environments.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 12 years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record in customer-facing technical roles.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge and experience in the Observability and Monitoring domain.
- Experience in automation and developing API-based and/or script-based solutions.
- Experience in integrating various vendor products via API endpoints.
