influenced by the work and research of Reggio Emilia. Ruyton Early Learning caters for children 3 to 5

years of age in a preschool early learning environment.

Day and time of shift:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7.20am - 3.30pm


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Ruyton has a responsive organisational culture and, as such, this role may be adapted to the evolving

needs of the School. The responsibilities of the Early Learning Co-educator include but are not limited


to:


Duties

  • Works within the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Victorian Early Years Learning
and Development Framework (VEYLDF)

  • Provides a safe, clean, ordered, welcoming and stimulating environment for children, parents
and staff

  • Ensures that a child/children do not come to harm or experience trauma
  • Assists the teacher by carrying out the duties required for the care of the children and the
success of the programme

  • Assists the teacher by planning collaboratively and assisting in the assessments and
observations of student learning

  • Assists with the provision of learning equipment and materials both indoors and out
  • Arranges suitable displays and documentation of children's work
  • Carries out general housekeeping duties as required by the teacher or the Director of Early
Learning

  • Ensure the smooth daytoday running of the programme, including supervision of children at
all times

  • Develop and maintain, together with other staff members, a caring environment where children
feel safe and secure

  • Plan and organise a developmental programme which considers and respects the individual
child within a group setting

  • Ensure that adequate equipment and materials are available
  • Ensure that nutritious refreshments are prepared for the children
  • Implement and maintain daytoday tasks including sign in/out, accident/illness reporting,
medication reports, details of parent contact numbers and children's days of attendance,

purchasing of materials as required

  • Any other administrative tasks as required

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience providing high level care of children
  • An active interest in and commitment to the education of young children
  • Demonstrated understanding of current theory and research relating to Early Years Education,
particularly working within the EYLF and VEYLDF

  • Sound knowledge and understanding National Quality Standards
  • Interest/knowledge in the educational project of Reggio Emilia Practice and Principle
  • Excellence in engaging with children and providing stimulating, nurturing and creative learning
environments and experiences
