This role is based at Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, situated in the stunning Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Perisher is under the ownership of Vail Resorts, managing ski areas like Perisher, Falls Creek, Hotham in Australia, and Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb, and Vail in North America.

The Skitube Alpine Railway plays a crucial role in our operations, operating as a rack/cog railway of Swiss origin that ensures all-weather access to the resort. Traveling from Bullocks Flat to Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain, it features one of Australia's lengthiest underground train tunnels, descending as deep as 550m below the surface.

As a Trades Assistant, you will form part of a committed team, focusing on preventive maintenance of the Skitube. Your responsibilities will involve guaranteeing the safe and efficient operation of the Skitube by conducting inspections and performing necessary maintenance tasks. Collaborating with our skilled fitters and electricians, you will acquire extensive knowledge about the Skitube and its functions.

Required Experience and Qualities

  • Experience in the construction industry or a similar maintenance role
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing effective relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Logical thinking skills for analytical problem-solving
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision
