About the Role

Manage the team to develop, deliver, manage, review and evaluate investment in programs and initiatives to improve outcomes for First Nations students and their families.

Provide strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General, Division executive, senior management and departmental stakeholders across a range of investment, program and funding issues.


You will have responsibility for, but not be limited to:

  • Lead, manage and participate in a team(s) providing a high-quality advice, research, evaluation and stakeholder engagement in the formulation of innovative and effective and culturally capable programs and initiatives to internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide and be accountable for high level advice to the Minister, Director-General, Division management and senior executive, Regional Directors and Principals and as required, external stakeholders, on a broad range of issues including the preparation of responses, reports and briefing materials on investments, programs and funding related to First Nations students.
  • Manage and contribute to project teams in the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of programs including developing program logics, policies and procedures to support the strategic direction of the department including those focused on improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Establish and maintain strategic networks to monitor issues and changes, and to identify, define and analyse best practice approaches to implementing consistent processes and facilitate ongoing departmental relationships within these networks.
