As the only independent Medical Research institute in Australia focused on childhood cancer, the Children's Cancer Institute's purpose is to translate and discover (through world class research), new treatments that will cure cancer and reduce the side effects in children and adolescents.

As our Legal Executive, your main purpose will be:

  • Drafting, reviewing, amending, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements between the Children's Cancer Institute and external organisations.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Working with the Head of Legal and Legal Counsel to draft or update company policies and procedures.
  • Performing administrative duties and contributing to the overall functions of the team.
  • Conducting legal research into a wide range of areas of law (including commercial, contract, intellectual property, fundraising, privacy) with respect to matters affecting the Children's Cancer Institute.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Head of Legal and Legal Counsel


Applicants must be a UNSW student and will ideally be in their 3rd or 4th year as an undergraduate or 2nd year as a Juris Doctor.

The position is a shared role and involves a flexible work schedule of - 3 workdays a week, organised to ensure you can meet your study schedule.

- strong communication skills and ability to demonstrate competence in various aspects of law, particularly contracts and intellectual property.
