The role


The role of the College Accompanist is to provide piano accompaniment at a range of College events including but not limited to rehearsals, auditions, assemblies, concert performances.

These events and performances may be scheduled outside of regular school hours, in the evenings and at weekends. The accompanist will work in both the curriculum and co-curricular domains, with particular emphasis on Stage 6 accompanying.

You will demonstrate the following attributes and capabilities:

  • Accomplished pianist with an advanced level of skill to enable performance of challenging repertoire
  • Demonstrate outstanding sightreading ability
  • Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance/Accompanying), Post Graduate degree is highly desirable
  • Teaching qualifications desirable, not essential
  • Demonstrate outstanding musicianship and technical proficiency through a diverse range of styles
  • The ability to measurably improve and advance the level of performance of students
  • Experience preparing students for recitals, assessments, exams and competitions including HSC Music 1, 2 and Music Extension
  • A team player with the ability to collaborate with the choir, band and string conductors to ensure seamless performances
  • Be well organised, creative and innovative with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Abiltity to to work with advanced pianists and teach the art of accompanying when required
  • A willingness to conduct College tours and work with Peripatetic staff offering assistance in studio concerts and AMEB exams experience is desirable
  • Willingness to support and promote the ethos and values of the College
