The Regional Practice Leader provides leadership to strengthen practice and improve outcomes for children, young people and their families. The Regional Practice Leader is part of the Quality Practice Team within the Brisbane and Moreton Bay Region.

The role also operates as part of a state-wide network of practice leaders and works collaboratively with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Practice Leader in the region.


The Quality Practice Team supports:

trauma-informed, culturally strong quality practice; improved outcomes for children and young people; strong engagement with families; professional development for staff; effective stakeholder engagement; data and performance analysis to identity areas for improvement; and leadership andsystem capacity building to better respond to the needs of children, young people and families.

This role will identify and respond to region and system wide opportunities for improvements in the delivery of quality child protection practice.

The role also supervises, mentors and leads a team of practitioners in the Quality Practice Team.

The Regional Practice Leader key responsibilities are:

  • Lead and support capacity building of staff in the region in both contemporary and fundamental child protection practice. Providing leadership and advice to Child Safety Service Centres on traumainformed, culturally strong child protection practice. Leading the practice, cultural capability strategies with the Director of Quality Practice and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Practice Leader. Provide high-level advice to Senior Team Leaders, Managers, Senior Practitioners, Directors and Regional Directors on complex practice matters in the delivery of effective and quality child protection services. Analyse performance data to identify trends and issues, consider systemic issues and the relationship between multiple performance measures in terms of the impact on service to clients. Supporting and implementing strategic departmental activities to enhance outcomes for children and young people, parents and families within the child protection system. Implement quality assurance mechanisms that support the monitoring and continuous improvement of services to children, young people, their families and carers. Develop enduring and productive service delivery partnerships to support service delivery outcomes, enhance cross-sectoral participation, training and development, and regional delivery and coordination of child protection services. Establish and maintain systems, practices and standards to ensure effective coordination and delivery of services. Manage multiple projects including implementation as part of the on-going reform and renewal agenda. Possession of a degree in accordance with the Child Safety Officer Qualifications Requirements. Post graduate studies in related content is highly desirable. Holder of an open 'C' class drivers licence and the ability to travel across and outside of the region.
