We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated School Officer - Industrial Technologies and Design (ITD and Visual Arts Technician) to join our college community.

The role holder is a member of the Curriculum Team working to provide support to the teaching staff in the Technologies department, specifically visual art and ITD.


It is essential that the role holder:

  • Has a deep interest in manual and visual arts
  • Acts with integrity, initiative and sound judgement to provide effective support
  • Can work under limited supervision and broad guidance
  • The position holder is expected to have a professional working relationship with teaching and nonteaching staff and the school community, displaying a high level of discretionary judgement and respect across a range of situations

ITD and Visual Arts works under the guidance and supervision of the



Curriculum Leader:

Technologies

to contribute to the effective management of the curriculum resources and oversight and maintenance of the ITD & Art workspaces.
The position holder is expected to:

  • Demonstrate competency in workshop management and machinery maintenance
  • Have the ability to stocktake resources, prepare orders and reconcile goods received
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace
  • Understand the need for equipment to be in good repair
  • Demonstrate understanding of workplace health and safety in both Visual Arts and ITD and a commitment to working safely

Under the direct supervision of the

Curriculum Leader:
Technologies, duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of resources and cleaning learning materials
  • Using technology to support learning activities
  • Administrative duties such as photocopying
  • Use and maintain machines and equipment used in the processing of timber, acrylics, ceramics, printmaking etc.
  • Ensuring maintenance and servicing of all equipment, tools and machinery
  • Maintain appropriate storage requirements for flammables cupboards / dangerous goods
  • Assist teachers and students to maintain a safe and clean workshop environment
  • Maintain adequate stores of precut and preprepared materials and supplies to ensure mínimal disruption to classroom activity
Trade qualifications would be an advantage or suitable experience across a variety of areas.

To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
