About the Role

The Road Safety Partnerships Lead will work with Local Government, non-government organisations, DTP and State government and the community to activate them and support their participation and engagement in road safety matters.
As part of a statewide team, this role is responsible for building effective relationships with key stakeholders across government at a state and local level and non-government sectors to support the objective of Victoria's Road Safety Strategy. Operating on an outreach basis, the Road Safety Partnerships Lead will actively engage with stakeholders and community at the local level to understand their perspective, opportunities and challenges and to present on current Road Safety initiatives.
The role will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating initiatives, programs and projects and ensuring that processes to manage, monitor and assess these are in place for effective delivery, monitoring and evaluation. Working with the Policy teams within RSV the role will also facilitate input from the community on new or emerging policy challenges and opportunities, whilst feeding intelligence and stakeholder and community needs to inform RSV's future work.

  • Understanding of Road Safety Issues – Has developed a clear picture of road safety perspectives, opportunities and issues within the communities and geographical area for which the role is responsible for.
  • Stakeholder Management– Has built strong and trusted relationships with external stakeholders including Councils, Road Safety Groups, Police and Non-Government Organisations and is able to build connections with relevant internal subject matter experts.
  • Effective Program and project management – Has provided effective project management to coordinate the delivery and effective operations of assigned programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Strong Networks and Customer Service – Strong and trusting relationships have been built with internal stakeholders within Department of Transport, other parts of government, and community organisations. Is responsive to internal and external stakeholders needs and supports timely resolution of queries or concerns.
  • Program monitoring and evaluation – Has ensured that program outcomes are clear and effective metrics have been developed for monitoring and reporting. Regular monitoring and reporting of allocated programs and projects have been provided
  • Risk and Opportunities Management – Risks and opportunities have been identified within relevant communities and have been acted on. Has helped identify and implement efficiencies and improvements,
  • Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

To be successful in this role, you will need to excel in partnering and co-creation, effectively building and maintaining partnerships to achieve objectives while coaching others in the co-creation process. Additionally, you should demonstrate expertise in project delivery by defining tasks, guiding team members, and ensuring progress aligns with plans. Your ability to influence and persuade is crucial, gaining agreement to proposals and ideas, while also fostering support behind the scenes and leveraging indirect influence channels. Stakeholder management is key, identifying common issues to build partnerships and responding to underlying needs. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are vital for considering the wider business context, identifying recurring issues, and delivering effective solutions. Understanding the political and organisational context is essential, comprehending organizational pressures and climate to navigate successfully.

On a personal level, you will be adept at outcomes thinking, establishing mechanisms to monitor the impact of your work on the community and ensuring that your team or organisation's operating and delivery model positively impacts the community. Additionally, you will excel in working collaboratively, guiding others to foster a culture of collaboration, identifying and overcoming barriers to knowledge sharing, and seeking opportunities to collaborate with other teams to achieve outcomes. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial, as you will need to accept changed priorities without discomfort, respond swiftly to changes, and comfortably collaborate with teams outside your own organisation.
