Overview


Working with the Manager of the Compliance Team and other members of the corporation to develop, maintain and operate systems and procedures to implement and integrate our clients operational Compliance Program safely and effectively.


Key accountabilities/responsibilities:

  • Improve health and quality by identifying and recommending, where appropriate, actions to address environmental quality problems for industry, agricultural and local government operational performance and assessing the effectiveness of relevant standards and guidelines and making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Provide advice on regulatory and compliance issues, in a timely and accurate manner, and maintain a network with local government on compliance issues within or that may impact on the area.
  • Undertake investigations and appropriate regulatory action, prepare material for prosecutions, case manage matters proceeding to prosecution and assist Compliance Manager and Legal Counsel in court matters.
  • Ensure appropriate supporting documentation for each Consent Applications is in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Undertake fieldbased inspections relating to compliance of Access to the Special Areas
  • Prepare relevant documentation and ensure records are kept as per our client's guidelines.
  • Ensure active involvement in the development, preparation, and ongoing success of Compliance Team related Projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Training of internal staff and stakeholders on investigations relating to unauthorised activities within the declared area.

  • Working to coordinate the activities of multiple state and local government agencies to achieve the objectives of our client.
  • Changing entrenched attitudes and priorities of community, industry and government agencies
  • Develop competency in and understanding of key client policies, systems, standards and procedures whilst working in a complex and changing environment.

Essential requirements:
Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Investigations and/or Regulatory role
  • Would suit a building compliance officer.
  • Authorised Officer or the ability to become one.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

Knowledge:

  • Computer literacy in TRIM/ARK record management system and Microsoft Office programs with the ability to operate other computer systems as required.
  • Ability to work with external stakeholder departments.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental issues associated with specific and general water and wastewater issues, land management and industry types.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.

Experience:

  • Experience in managing compliance activities within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Experience in negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution and in analysing and resolving complex issues.
  • Experience utilising social media in the investigation process.


 Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Investigations (Government) or higher.
  • Experience with legislative and policy tools under Protection of the Environment Operations Act 199
  • Experience in environmental management and the use of statutory controls
