About The Role The Detector Physicist is responsible to support the commissioning of the Photon Assay TM units including its equipment and people.

What You Will Do Assist Physics Support for commissioning and acceptance testing of new Photon Assay instruments including Factory and Site Acceptance Testing
Support the installation, commissioning and ongoing performance of Photon Assay hardware including both in-person and remotely.
Monitor the radiation detectors and associated electronics used in deployed Chrysos Photon Assay systems.
Assist in improving product documentation, manuals, and processes
Improve MTTF on Physics-related equipment and undertake root-cause analysis of failures.
Assist in the coordination of critical unit spares.
Support calibration of HPGe Detectors in compliance with IEEE Standard 325 and ISO 20042
Coordinate with external suppliers and manufacturers to maintain supply and suitability of detection hardware.
Assist in diagnosis and repair of radiation detectors and associated electronics
Assist in the in-house design, manufacture and testing of hardware and devices
Contribute to a culture that values collaboration, technical excellence, and on-going staff learning and development.
Support the development of a strong OH&S culture.

Essential Who you are:
A tertiary qualification in physics, medical or engineering physics or equivalent industry experience
Familiarity with basic electronics testing and trouble-shooting, including use of tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and multi-meters.
Basic familiarity with radiation sources, detectors, and practical aspects of radiation safety.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Desirable Experience performing data or statistical analysis in a lab or commercial environment
Comfortable working with numbers, statistics and graphs Data/Information analysis and reporting experience
A demonstrated interest in applying academic knowledge to solving practical, real-world problems.
Experience with simple scripting, plotting or programming tool such as Matlab, Python or R Software and/or Information Technology experience
