Location of the Hard Rock Open Pit Mine is in QLD - Relocation with location options to talk through.

Leading from the front supporting the team and managing mining production, maintenance and engineering operations, as well as the critical supporting infrastructure for processing the mining resources.

The General Manager will be responsible for effectively leading, coaching, directing and co-ordinating the business units to meet budget, profitability, operational, quality, safety, and environmental objectives.

The General Manager, Operations, will be able to look beyond the traditional way of doing things and prioritise expenditure, human and mine resources to safely produce quality and timely outcomes for the operations.

Leading the senior management team across all sites, you will also plan, guide, and coordinate the work of multiple activities associated with the commencement of processing operations.

Your entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions will assist our organisation in maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, generating business opportunities, increasing staff productivity, improving processing outputs and ensuring sustainability.

The core component of this role is to ensure the ongoing culture is managed and grown and to ensure that the company ethos is maintain and developed further over time

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Provide the vision and leadership for a group and staff who will be responsible for the mining and operations, as well as the operational support and building an inclusive and high performing culture.
  • Coordinate best practices of the sites' assets to optimise the life of mine and production schedules
  • Ensure management, control, and direction with respect to the planning and goal setting process across the technical, maintenance, processing, HSE, camp and administration functions
  • Develop and maintain life of mine plans with input from all operations ensuring that the technical team remains technologically competitive in the areas of resources estimation, mining geology and mine planning.
  • Ensure that mine designs are based on suitable geological, geotechnical, and operational assessment of stability, risk, and economics.
  • Manage and maintain the successful implementation of mine plans, taking full responsibility for their outcomes.
  • Ensure the highest maintenance standards are applied and maintained using resources which typically include costs mobile equipment maintenance team, contractors, etc.
  • Oversee the technical mining aspects of the operations which typically include crushing, screening, conveying, stacking, loading, and hauling
  • Actively participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature the organisations capabilities.
  • Reduce OHS&W, environmental, and legislative risks by implementing continuous improvement strategies
  • Set up and manage the Standard Operating Procedures for engineering and maintenance activities to plan and implement engineering operations endtoend, providing updates and reports as necessary.

Skills and Experienced Required:

  • A diploma or degree in mining engineering and experience in open pit mining or mining operations with significant equivalent relevant work experience in these fields.
  • Site Senior Executive (_SSE_) coal _mining ticket or ability to obtain is highly advantageous _
  • A senior level of relevant professional experience in mining and operational leadership working with hard rock minerals across Copper, Coal, Iron Ore.
  • Working knowledge and the understanding of flotation in mineral processing and processing plant machinery and systems
  • Demonstrable record of successfully delivering longterm monitoring of engineering performance, tracking of metrics, and of driving performance improvements to manage an efficient engineering and maintenance operation.
  • A demonstrated record of successful leadership and management of teams, promoting diversity and developing an inclusive, highperforming culture. Experience of all aspects of people management including recruitment, capability development and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently at all levels, presenting complex engineering issues and concepts in a style appropriate to the audience, and the ability to represent the organisation externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, shape conversations, and change behaviours through effective relationship
