First Nations Health Worker Lead

The First Nations Health Worker Lead will ensure high level cultural advice and professional and culturally specific social and emotional support is being provided to First Nations peoples accessing the mental health service, including their family, carers, and social/cultural support networks.
The role will support First Nations peoples' participation at all Mental Health facilities across the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service by building partnerships with community members and consumers and through advocating for the needs of First Nations community members within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service catchment.
The role will support the First Nations workforce within Community and Acute Services to achieve improved mental health outcomes for First Nations peoples accessing the mental health service, as per the objectives of the QLD Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework and Closing the Gap initiative.
About you- Welldeveloped understanding of the social determinants of health affecting First Nations peoples, including their physical, mental, and spiritual health and wellbeing.
- Welldeveloped clinical skills for the delivery of evidencebased health assessments, health promotion, education, and illness prevention activities in a primary health/mental health care setting.
- High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and the ability to develop effective partnerships with First Nations communities and with key internal and external stakeholders.
- As a member of the senior leadership team, provide cultural leadership and demonstrate high level management skills in monitoring and reporting on the outcomes and measures towards Closing the Gap in Indigenous Disadvantage across the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, with a primary focus on Mental Health outcomes and Social and Emotional Well-Being.
- Ability to provide cultural supervision and clinical support to staff.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/1
- Vaccinated against COVID19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
