About the Role


National Parks and Wildlife Service has a great opportunity for a Visitor Service Support Assistant to join a friendly and close-knit team based in a beautiful Byron Bay.

The Visitor Service Support Assistant provides diverse administrative and related services to support the day-to-day operations of the Cape Byron State Conservation Area including, but not limited to, collecting fees, collecting relevant visitor information, customer services and assisting with park compliance patrol duties.


As the Visitor Service Support Assistant, you will help provide a welcoming environment and high-quality experience for visitors of the Cape Byron State Conservation Area.


About You


As a Visitor Service Support Assistant, you are adept at providing excellent customer service for visitors, responding to their needs in a professional, courteous and friendly manner, and managing competing priorities in a high-volume environment.

Your excellent communication skills and sound people and diplomatic skills will help you excel in this role.

Essential Requirements

  • Good oral communication, and customer service skills with experience dealing with customer inquiries and the ability to manage such inquiries in a manner that addresses customer's concerns.
  • Capacity and willingness to undertake enforcement duties associated with the park use fee system and Environment, Energy & Science / NPWS Regulations, with an ability to work unsupervised and adapt to competing priorities
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a twoway radio.
  • This role also requires a current driver's licence. The holder of this role will be required to wear an NPWS uniform. This role may also involve regular evening and weekend work. This is a shiftbased position, under the Crown Employees (Public Service).
