About The Role


The Data Security and Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing and implementing data security measures, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations, and managing data-related risks within the organisation.


This role plays a critical part in safeguarding data of staff, volunteers, stakeholders and clients maintaining the organisation's reputation for data integrity and security.


_ Data Security Management:
_


  • Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular data security assessments and vulnerability scans.
  • Ensure the organization's data is encrypted, backed up, and protected from unauthorized access.
  • Respond to data security incidents, investigate breaches, and coordinate incident response activities.

_Compliance Management:
_


  • Monitor and ensure compliance with data protection laws, regulations ISO/IEC 27000 and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain a compliance framework and program.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments.
  • Collaborate with teams to address compliance issues.

_Data Privacy:
_


  • Ensure that data handling practices align with privacy internal standards and regulations.
  • Maintain records of data processing activities and data protection impact assessments.

_Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
_


  • Identify and assess datarelated risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls.
  • Provide guidance to other departments on data security and compliance risks.

_Training and Awareness:
_


  • Develop and deliver data security and compliance training programs for employees.
  • Promote data security and compliance awareness throughout the organisation.

_Vendor and Third-Party Risk Management:
_


  • Assess and manage data security risks associated with thirdparty vendors and service providers.
  • Review and negotiate data protection clauses in vendor contracts.

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data security, compliance, or a related role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency with financial software, enterprise solutions and reporting tools.
  • Indepth knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to positively interact and collaborate with all stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations relevant to industries.
