The Organisation:
A leading Queensland government department is currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer, Sourcing (A06). You will be working for an organisation where you will be working in a small and close-knit team environment. You will be reporting to a Manager who has extensive experience and a good understanding of the Queensland State Government procurement policies and framework. You will not be working excessive hours. This role is initially a temporary position for 6 months and has the potential to be extended.

The Position:
This role will require you to take ownership of the procurement and sourcing function. You will be responsible for:

  • Working with key preferred suppliers to procure equipment, goods and services
  • Communicating directly with suppliers
  • Documentation management to ensure an effective compliance trail
  • Managing purchase order requisitions

As this is a small team, you must have a passion for supporting your colleagues, whilst knowing you will be supported in return.

Your Profile:
To truly succeed in this varied role, you will be able to demonstrate true competencies in the following areas:

  • Experience working for the Queensland State Government with an understanding of the procurement policies and processes will provide you with a hugely competitive advantage.
  • An ability to read, review and interpret supplier contracts
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills coupled with exceptional communication skills
  • A good understanding of the procurement function
  • Good resilience as you will be interfacing with many different stakeholders and building and nurturing strong relationships
  • Experience using SAP will be helpful
