About the Role:


The purpose of the Principal Finance Officer, Governance and Compliance is to provide a key coordination role across the Finance and Procurement functions managing responses across teams to meet workflow, reporting and control requirements; conduct contractor claims analysis; lead, drive and implement improvements that deliver effective and efficient processes; provide strategic advice to stakeholders on financial accounting and procurement activities; and manage compliance activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • TechnologyOne superuser for AP & AR, contracts and procurement, providing broad support to the DA in areas such as training, advice and system troubleshooting.
  • Lead the finance input with respect to TechnologyOne system configuration including assessing and prioritisation of finance requests.
  • Develop and implement new reporting and dashboards to support the business, working with IT to design, test, and deploy.
  • Review external and internal reporting requirements relating to contracts and procurement such as Indigenous supply and Government portal reporting.
  • Ensure staff compliance with purchasing policies across DA, and develop strategies to improve compliance and purchasing outcomes.
  • Undertake various duties regarding financial delegations, compliance matters pertaining to the Financial Management Practice Manual, and general finance activities for the DA as required.
  • Implement and coordinate process improvements and best practices across functions
  • Support the Financial Accounting Team with Payroll operations, including DA reconciliation, file reviews, training, and compliance with payroll tax regulations. Complete yearend payroll reconciliations
  • Lead the delivery of the payables and receivables functions for the DA including direct supervision of the Finance Officer role responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable, providing mentoring, coaching and training as required.
  • Develop and deliver training for staff involved in procuretopay processes, including endorser and delegate training.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders, driving business value with innovative solutions.

About You:

  • Demonstrated high level of expertise in accounts payable and receivable activities within a commercial, government or project environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in development and mentoring of staff.
  • Experience using the Technology One finance package.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problemsolving skills, with expertise in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Formal training in contracts and procurement, such as the Procurement Certification Program (Level 3 or higher) will be highly regarded.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar and study or completed CA/CPA qualifications will be highly regarded.
