About the role


As a Terminal Operator based in our Adelaide Freight Terminal, you will work within the yard and play a key role in ensuring the on time departure of trains and efficient turn around times of trucks from the terminal.

Our on-site team will provide full training across our terminal operations including:

  • Shunting
  • Operating Reach Stackers
  • Processing Freight
  • Documentation and computerised systems
  • Train examinations
  • Brake testing


 Communications
  • Radio
  • Fueling
  • Above all else safe operating procedures


Teamwork is critical as our Terminal Operators are responsible for the coordination, planning, efficient assembly and dismantling of trains within the terminal as well as forklift driving.

Shift work is applicable, 6 week rotating roster between Day/Afternoon/Nights


Our Part-time crew will work a minimum of 19 hours per week, additional work may be offered to cover leave and peak periods.

This is a great opportunity to learn rail freight logistics and it could be a pathway to stepping into other opportunities including Train Driving.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Container loading via reach stacker operation
  • Reach stacker experience highly regarded
  • Shunting
and train examination duties associated with arrival, departure, marshalling and preparation of trains.

  • Inspection of trains and equipment during train operations.
  • Ensure security and general housekeeping is maintained throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards and obligations are satisfied.

About your experience


You are passionate about safety ensuring all work movements are undertaken as per safety processes with the ability to stay aware of yourself and others in a fast-paced work environment.

You will also have the ability to multitask and change priorities as required and work well within a team to ensure tasks are completed on time and customer requirements are met.

You will be happy working outdoors and enjoy the work/life balance shift work offers.

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Current High Risk Work LF licence
  • Strong commitment to enforce a mature safety culture
  • Be able to work in a dynamic 24/7 shift work environment with flexibility and commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills and team focus
  • Hold a current motor vehicle license and have a good mechanical aptitude
  • Good customer service skills
  • Positive cando attitude
