What you will be doing:
A fabulous opportunity is available to join the team in Womens health as an Assistant in Midwifery in a casual position at Nepean Hospital.
- Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife
- Assist Registered Nurse/Midwives and Enrolled Nurses with patient care interventions as directed and within the scope of practice
- Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
- Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol

?All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection Criteria to be Addressed:
- Currently enrolled as a 2nd year first semester in a Undergraduate Midwifery Program.
- Able to demonstrate ability to organise and prioritise work.
- Commitment to womencentred Maternity care
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work a variety of shifts including night duty and weekends with a minimum of 2 shifts/week.
- Demonstrated evidence of complying with Immunisation category A.
