Job Title: Production Controller at Santos, Brisbane
About the Role
Based in Brisbane, this position is responsible for the safe remote operation and optimization of Upstream assets, including facilities, wells, and pipelines. The role serves as a crucial link for commercial operations, third-party operators, field-based operations, maintenance, development, and drilling & completion teams.This is a rostered position involving a series of night/day shifts and rostered days off (RDOs) at the Meanjin Operations Centre. Field visits are scheduled approximately twice a year, and annual leave is partially scheduled. For health and safety reasons, living within a 45-minute commute of the Santos Brisbane office and being a resident of QLD are mandatory.
Key responsibilities include:
- Safely operate assets remotely in partnership with field-based teams to maximize production and minimize emissions according to the agreed strategy.
- Understand and implement control room processes compliant with Operations Excellence (OE) standards, such as shift handover, alarm management, and the execution of bridges and standing orders.
- Respond to safety or production critical issues, including daily situational awareness reporting for field-based teams.
- Validate production data, report volumes, and availability.
- Analyze online condition monitoring equipment to detect potential failures early.
- Work with Santos Energy Solutions and Commercial Operations to enhance business value.
- Manage third-party producer transport agreements and relay critical information.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to aid in delivering improvement projects that exploit remote control and control systems to the fullest.
- Foster close working relationships and maintain a high level of communication with Maintenance, Drilling & Completions, and Development teams to meet production and maintenance objectives.
- Take field trips to establish effective relationships, identify improvement opportunities, and receive feedback.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously.
- The capacity to juggle priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
- Proficient communication skills.
Ideally, possessing a tertiary qualification and/or relevant trade certificate is preferred, although relevant experience in analogous positions will be considered.
