Academic Advisement

St. Joseph's University is a century-old, independent, coeducational institution, located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

The University offers more than 45 undergraduate majors, pre-professional and certificate programs, and graduate degrees in management, business, health care management, human services, nursing, accounting and education.

St. Joseph's is seeking a part-time Academic Advisor to work with students on the Brooklyn campus. Reporting to and working in collaboration with the Director of the Academic Advisement Center.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Meeting with students for course planning, scheduling, registration, and drop/add
  • Supporting and collaborating with faculty advisors in the advisement of students
  • Assisting in and leading oneonone and group training workshops on advising and registration processes and procedures
  • Discussing student personal and academic goals and planning and supporting their attainment
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Ability to collaborate with employees and faculty members in all levels within an organization
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND APPLICATION PROCESS


The position calls for approximately 19 hours per week on campus, at times between 9:00-5:00 and between Monday and Friday.


Compensation:

  • Bachelor's degree
: $28/hour,

  • Advanced degree: $36/hour
